AboutGolf Logo

AboutGolf's seventeen-year history has been entirely devoted to golf technology. We have fifteen software developers working full time on the continual advancement of our simulation software. Our code base for golf simulation is the most advanced in the industry.

Our ball tracking sensor technology applies advanced applications of phased array microwave ballistic tracking technology. Our technology partner EDH has over 30 dedicated scientists making continual breakthroughs in this field. The Flightscope Sim Sensor, exclusively used in the AboutGolf Simulator, is unparalleled with respect to indoor golf ball launch detection and club analysis.

AboutGolf formally commenced deployment of its simulators in August, 2003, and expects to be the world #1 simulator provider by the end of 2005. Through a fortuitous combining of Friendly Software's golf simulation software technology with EDH's ballistic golf ball and golf club tracking technology, AboutGolf has sent shockwaves through the indoor golf simulator industry with the introduction and continual advancement of its radically advanced simulator product.

AboutGolf is 100% committed to significant ongoing investment in research and development to continually advance its simulator technology and widen its industry lead. We consider our product to represent not only the present state of the art, but also the future of indoor golf.

Our software development team has a definitive focused plan for future improvements in all facets of the product, including graphics, physics, game improvement technology, unique entertainment features, and courses. Our ball tracking technology is powerful today, but the capabilities of this technology are just beginning to be fully exploited. Noteworthy improvements are occurring monthly. This will not stop.

AboutGolf's proprietary software has the best graphics, physics, and overall functionality. Ours is the only product that provides fully 3D rendered environments, including all trees and objects (other products apply flat frame graphics that are far less realistic in performance). With Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Teeth of the Dog, and a rapidly growing list of other great courses, we have by far the largest team of course developers that not only will ensure we soon will have the most courses in the industry, but the most meticulously replicated and most graphically stunning.

Our ball and club tracking system is solid state with no consumable parts, very easy to calibrate, and maintenance free. Once it's calibrated, if the installation is stable there is no future re-calibration. You should expect virtually no down time from the sensor or software. Starting with early beta units, our ball tracking sensors in the field have been in use 7 days per week in very rigorous environments for over two years. We've not had a failure.

Our sensor provides more accurate and more overall data, including ball speed, vertical launch angle, horizontal launch angle, sidespin, and back spin. It also directly measures the club, providing club head speed, horizontal strike angle, vertical strike angle, and club face angle.

Course play is at the most realistic level achieved in indoor golf, from normal full shots, to shanks and topped shots, to every type of chip or pitch, and for putting from 100+ footers down to tap-ins. At the range, our extensive shot analysis capabilities offer not only very accurate data, but also extremely consistent data. If you make a change to your swing that adds 3 yards, you'll get the feedback. If you change your swing to add or subtract back-spin, you'll see the result.

We offer an online event facility, WorldPlay. We've spent over 3 years perfecting and testing it with our PC users, with over 10 million competitive rounds logged to date. We offer a community web site that is being expanded regularly where users can enter events, collect virtual cash, and purchase prizes.

Just released, DataTrac enables users to track all their practice and club-fitting data for analysis via a personal web page. AdKit enables commercial owners to optimize advertising revenues.

Our mantra is "exquisite service at any cost". This includes 24/7 phone support and a team that will pay close attention to any needs you have. All maintenance upgrades are free, and easily installed. This includes easily installed firmware upgrades for our sensor, and continual advancements in the simulator software.

We respectfully submit that we feel that any buyer seriously intending to acquire a high-end indoor golf simulator should diligently assess the AboutGolf's Simulator.

Ground Breaking Technology
At the heart of any effort to accurately replicate the game of golf indoors must lie intricate technology and focused technologists with a thirst for continual improvement. AboutGolf's simulator is the collaboration of two seminal golf technology companies who are re-writing the standards for indoor golf on a daily basis.

Ball And Club Tracking
are produced through an exclusive partnership with EDH, Ltd. of South Africa. EDH's scientists have been working to perfect EDH Tracking technology for over fifteen years, working specifically on golf for the last five years, and working directly with AboutGolf's developers for the last two years. The final product is derived from very stable and reliable military ballistic technology designed by EDH to track artillery fire for over thirty miles with a margin of error of less than .01%.

AboutGolf's Sim Sensor applies patented 3D phased-array microwave technology that operates at 7,000 cycles per second, providing an amazingly accurate view of the flying ball and club head for their entire flight. The Sim Sensor, once properly calibrated, needs little or no ongoing adjustment. While system failures are extremely rare, if a sensor fails a replacement can be delivered overnight and installed by the user in about 15 minutes. Performance updates to the Sim Sensor can be delivered via email, and automatically load when the system is started up.

The solid-state Sim Sensor is about the size of a large book, sits behind the screen, and provides 100% of all ball and club data via a simple serial connection.

Software is exclusively supplied by AboutGolf's parent company, Friendly Software, who has been advancing its golf simulation technology since 1988. With a team of more than a dozen high-end developers, Friendly has invested over $10 million in the last decade to create the most advanced golf simulation code base in the world.

Friendly Software, producers of Microsoft Golf 1998 and 1999 Editions, has distributed more PC golf games than any other company.

AboutGolf's graphics are unparalleled, with greater resolution and detail, including moving clouds, flags that blow the direction and intensity of the wind, and even tee signs that can be read.

AboutGolf's physicists continue to perfect algorithms that translate the Sim Sensor's tracking data into accurate shot results, including precise collision physics relative to trees, rocks, cart paths, sloped lies, and all types of terrain.

Only AboutGolf provides a fully 3D rendered environment, critical to realistic play. Trees are fully 3D, so collisions with trunks, leaves, and branches are just as in real life. It's actually possible to hit a ball into the cup-holder of a golf cart.

Taking the quality, accuracy, and quantity of shot data and information to a level never before attained by simulators or commercial launch monitors, the AboutGolf simulator is the ultimate game improvement device. Visual feedback and displayed data combine to provide the golfer with elements not attainable anywhere, with any other technology. It makes the AboutGolf simulator a better place to get better than the golf course itself.

AboutGolf's driving range is designed to provide the ultimate in functionality for practice, self-analysis, teaching, and club-fitting. Accurate shot data provides the perfect environment for game improvement.

AboutGolf's exclusive SwingScope provides an accurate graphical display of horizontal club strike vector, club face angle, ball flight, and smash factor.
